2nd Biannual "Best Liberal Laugh of the Year Award"—honoring "Frangela"
Get your tickets quick! Comedy duo Frangela, the queens of pointed “BFF” humor with their “Real News—Real Funny” style heard on Burbank’s KTLK AM 1150, are being honored by the Burbank Democratic Club with its second BLLOTY Award, the “Best Liberal Laugh of the Year.”
The biannual award started with our 2007 honor for the entire Stephanie Miller morning radio show--and a raucous night was had by all.
Frangela—or best friends Frances Callier and Angela V. Shelton, with “their names shmushed together”—can be heard 2-4 p.m. Sundays on KTLK and often fill in for national hosts. BLLOTY night fans can count on a pre-show mixer, dinner, the award presentation and an impromptu audience Q-and-A session with Frances and Angela, with "photo ops" for all.
The duo also offers razor-sharp pop and political comment on VH1’s “Best Week Ever,” appear on FOX’s new “Wedlock or Deadlock,” were just seen in the film “He’s Just Not Into You,” offer pop culture punditry on numerous network shows from “The Today Show” on, and have authored the first in a book series, “The Afro-Saxons’ Guide to Life.”
Tickets are $60 in advance and cover a choice of five menus and all non-alcoholic drinks (a cash bar is available). Tickets can be ordered directly online with menu choice via ActBLUE at the club website, www.burbankdemocraticclub.com, or by downloading a form there to return by mail. Ad space in the program book is also available. Tickets are $75 at the door, if any remain.
Founding BDC president, state party executive board member and Burbank businessman Lee Wochner will serve as emcee for the evening, with other guests and surprises to be announced.
Frangela is online at www.frangela.com, with links to Facebook and Twitter.
