We’re raising campaign funds for Diana Shaw for Assembly AND we’ve got a LOL RIOT of a show too.

Meet Diana Shaw, learn why she'd make such a positive difference in Sacramento. Ask questions. Find out what it would be like have our issues represented. We only need 3 seats in the Assembly for an effective majority to pass an on-time budget in California. Let’s do it this time!

And, straight from their rave performance in Valencia its Airing The Dirty Laundry; hilarious and terrifying tell-all with Meg and Carly. You will not want to miss this.

Please join Valley Grassroots for Democracy on Thursday, June 24, at 7:00 p.m for a reading and discussion with Reza Aslan.

Dr. Reza Aslan, an internationally acclaimed writer and scholar of religions, is a contributing editor at the Daily Beast (thedailybeast.com). Reza Aslan has degrees in Religions from Santa Clara University, Harvard University, and the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa, where he was named the Truman Capote Fellow in Fiction.

We were privileged to have Reza visit our club in April 2008 to discuss his first book, the international bestseller "No God But God". The book was named one of the 100 most important books of the last decade. It was a packed house then and we hope to have a packed house at our June 24th meeting when Reza, presents his latest book "Beyond Fundamentalism", published in hardcover as "How to Win a Cosmic War". We will have copies of the book available for $16.

The meeting takes place at the State Building Auditorium, 6150 Van Nuys Blvd at Calvert. Entrance is on Calvert and metered street parking is available.

Valley Grassroots' March endorsement meeting will take place on Sunday, March 14, starting at 9:30 am, and will take place at the CSUN Grand Salon. Members must be signed in by 10:00 in order to vote.

We moved our meeting to this date because of better availability of the candidates and because DPSFV will be holding a statewide candidates forum in the same location in the afternoon. We'll have refreshments in the morning and order out for lunch.

We have invited all of the Democratic candidates for our local races and expect most of them to attend. Come and listen to what they have to say and then vote on our club's endorsement in the upcoming election.

The Grand Salon is located on the campus of Cal State Northridge near parking lot G4 on Zelzah Ave, north of Nordhoff. Parking is $5 all day and can be purchased at the automated kiosks once you park. We will have signs guiding you to the room.
