The Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley Stands With the AAPI Community
The tragic shooting that took place in Georgia on Tuesday evening was horrific and the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley (DPSFV) stands with the Asian American Pacific Islander Community. The shooting left 8 people deceased, 6 of whom were women of Asian descent. It should not go unsaid that this is not an isolated incident. Not only has there been an increase in anti-Asian hate crimes across the U.S. within the past year, but these types of hateful incidents perpetuate long standing prejudice against Asian Americans. According to a Stop AAPI National Report, there were over 3,000 incidents received by the Stop AAPI Hate Reporting Center since March 2020. We all must collectively speak out and actively work against these types of hateful incidents. We, as DPSFV, support and stand with the Asian American Pacific Islander Community and strongly condemn these acts of violence. #StopAsianHate
