Whereas there is a higher potential for transgender, gender variant and gender non-conforming individuals to be victims of hate crimes, including threats, harassment and physical assault, which can be lethal; and
Whereas multiple college campuses and other public accommodations throughout the United States have installed gender neutral restrooms on their facilities to the benefit of all people; and
Whereas, gender neutral restrooms may be used by everyone,
Therefore be it resolved that the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley (DPSFV) requests that the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges include a single-occupancy gender neutral restroom in every building of a new construction of a California Community College campus, including significant building renovations and remodels, and
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees.
